Old Crawford County Court House

Knoxville, Georgia

The Knoxville Courthouse is a two-story stuccoed brick building on a brick foundation, featuring a cast iron ballustrade on the outside double stairway leading to the courtroom. The steps are of granite and are the only means of access to the second-story courtroom. The hipped roof has flaring eaves. It was used for court procedings until 1996 for over 100 years and remained in operation for county offices until 2001. A new structure was built in 2001-2002, retiring the Knoxville Courthouse, which is being preserved by Crawford County Historical Society as a museum. This is one of the favorite venues of the annual JugFest and Old Knoxville Days held the third weekend in May.
