Wow Factory

I am happily announcing a new adventure that a photography friend and I are embarking on, as of today. We have rented studio space, that we were lucky enough to find here in Bloomsburg, Pa. I’ve wanted a place to work on photographs, and for lack of a better description, a place where local photographers can come to talk photography, share photos, drink some coffee, and engage in various aspects of our shared photographic passion. My photo friend Steve Varonka has joined me in this venture. He works a full time job at the regional medical center, but plans on retiring in the next year or so, and wanted to set up a studio, so he could ease into retirement and do something he really enjoys. Staring off, he will be offering to do digital photographic training or teach basic photo processing to beginners, on a one to one basis. His slogan is “Put the Wow into your photos,” thus “The Wow Factory” We will also have some of our works for sale, and possibly accept some commissions, (no weddings) :-) We are not really looking to start a power business. Photography first. We may rent the studio to local photographers to use by appointment. The rent is low, the space is perfect, and we can keep the whole thing totally enjoyable, without the presser of having to earn a lot of money to pay the rent. For me, it’s primarily a studio space with lights, photo equipment and all the things I need to make pictures. Even better, it’s a place where I can experiment with my photography. For Steve, it’s a start on his retirement. The space is about two minutes from each of our homes in a downtown location, not far from the local university. It’s really perfect for our needs. We signed our lease, the space is freshly painted, all equipment ordered (mostly delivered) utilities started, and we are almost ready to go. We started to move in today. It’s all very exciting, and I’m really ready and raring to get started making photos. Steve will have regular hours, about nine a week, and as for me, I’ll be there, whenever I feel like it. I’ll post a few photos here, after we really get things set up and rolling. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and visit, drink some coffee and let’s talk photography.
