David had the double team set up again. That is, four Belgium draft horses in front followed by a second row of mules, because of the extra power needed to turn the packed earth over, and the depth he needed the tool to go. He gave me a chance to drive the mule team as the teams have separate reins to control them. (No, I didn’t drive them by myself. David took me along and was terrific enough to give me a chance to try my hand at driving) I can’t believe how hard it is to drive the animals. It was a fantastic experience and I have a new appreciation of what it takes to do this job.
