The last three days the Martin family has been harvesting wheat using horse drawn reapers. The process is long and hard and involves a lot of physical labor. This picture is of Melvin Martin waiting with a buggy while some of the other men work on a jammed piece of equipment. Melvin still a teenager has taken on his role as an adult farmer and does everything the older family members are supposed to do. It’s been amazing watching him over the last few years grow into a responsible young farmer. The past few days have been a true joy for me. The weather has been perfect and I’ve even been able to make myself useful while taking lots of pictures. Many more photos to come.
