I’m constantly surprised by the Amish and Mennonites. The more time I spend around these wonderful people, the more my preconceptions change. I was at an Amish/ Mennonite horse auction not long ago taking photos. I needed a piece of equipment from inside my car that was back in the parking area. I went back to get what I needed out of the car and there, standing between my car and a van parked next to me was a group of teenage Amish girls. They were having a great time and were in full giggle mode. While I rummaged around in my car getting equipment they wandered off laughing. When I finished my task I noticed this message scrawled in the dirt caked on the vans side window. “Amish girls rock.” I got a great kick seeing this spontaneous expression of self, and laughed about it to myself for quite a while. Who knew?
