This was taken at a good old-fashioned barn raising at a nearby farm, owned by a Mennonite farmer friend of mine. These farmers working in the rafters were adding an addition to a loading dock and building used for shipping crops to market. The building is shared by a group of Mennonite farmers from the immediate area. They got started early in the morning and finished almost the entire project on the same day. It was amazing to watch the organization and cooperation with which the project progressed. I had never witnessed a barn raising firsthand before. They even enlisted me to run errands during the day to pick up supplies and get parts as needed. I had a great time taking photos and trying to make myself useful. More photos coming.
I’m just back from a two-day road trip to New York State to attend a rock and mineral show. I went there with the hope of finding some visually interesting specimens to use for macro photos, now that I have a studio of my own to work in. In addition to the rock and mineral show, I had a few days to wander back roads in NY State with my camera. I had a great time. Glad to be back now, and I’m sure it’s going to be a few days of catching up with everything. Regards to all!
