For those of you who don't know about the "town" of Centralia, Pa. It is a virtual ghost town. Since the 1960s an underground mine fire has been raging. All that's left are one or two houses. It spews toxic gasses that look like steam rising from the ground and the earth is collapsing and moving around constantly. A lot of the downed trees have been bleached by the fumes. Anyway this little piece of hell is about fifteen miles from my home and is a strange and startling place to take photographs.
