I never knew him till after his passing,but I could just cry when I think about our loss ! I've fallen in love with his talent and what little I know about him. I sit now and listen to his music by the HOUR ! He will NEVER be replaced or duplicated ! He was the BEST !!!! DAVE

Even though it has been a year and half since Anthony passed, I still miss him so much. Gordon Mote is good, but the Gaither concerts are just not the same without Anthony. My heart still aches that I never took the time to meet Anthony and tell him how much his music blessed me. Thank you so much for sharing these photos with us. You have some exceptional shots. I only heard of Anothy Burger today when we, (myself and my parents) were watching the Gaither Homecoming on television and Anthony did his smoking piano routine. I was amazed and quickly ran to look up any information on him I could find. My parents and I were greatly saddened by the new of his death in Feb of this year. Anthony was a truly amazing piano player and a true testimony to God's work.

I've been so blessed listening to Anthony play. I will miss the way his fingers danced across the keys and the joy in his face as he was praising God through his music. I' m heart broken over his loss and my prayers are with his family..... Keep strong and God will give you the strength to face each day. I know if we remain faithful to the end a crown of life awaits and our loved ones we will meet see never to part again. Anthony will be forgotten...........

I live in Pocahontas Arkansas and when I heard about this loss I was just shocked. Anthony was wonderful, I enjoyed watching and listening to all his music. Heaven is having one big party and I know he is playing the panio. God bless his family and Lord thank you for giving him that talent to touch our lives because it gave us hope for tomarrow. I am sorry to hear of Anthony's homegoing. I am a former college student here in MA. I was given permission from Anthony to use a song from his "Let Freedom Ring" album as a tribute to our Vets. I was not able to get the project off the ground (time constraints). But, I have it in my heart to try to get the project going again as a tribute to Anthony. I have an e-mail from him with his permission and a note saying he wanted a copy of the finished project. I wished I had gotten the time to finish the project. I feel we have lost the most gifted Christian piano player/musician that I have ever heard. He is now playing for the Angels! Amen! Praying for the family at this time! I was honored to get to meet Anthony at a Concert in Florence, AL back in 2005. Just sitting there watching him play and listening, Well there really are not enough words to describe it, truly could feel the Love He had for Jesus and Anthony has always and will always be an inspiration to me. Anthony truly has touched my life in so many ways, and He'll be greatly missed. I also want to say that I'm praying for Anthony's Family, For his Wife Luann, Daughter Lori, Sons AJ & Austin You're all in my prayers!! God bless you all!! Will see you again someday in Heaven!!

I am still having a hard time believing Anthony is gone. It seems that tomorrow we'll wake up from this horrible dream and we'll see Anthony on TV or in a concert. I had the opportunity to see Anthony in concert with the Gaithers about 3 or 4 times...he was truly awesome! I know that Anthony knew that his piano playing was God's calling for him, and he never took that for granted. He never ceased to amaze me when I would see him or hear him play...there was such an annointing about him when he played. Can you imagine playing for people on a cruise ship then within the blink of an eye be standing in GOD'S presence? I believe that Anthony knew what was coming before it happened. To his wife and children...my thoughts and most of all my prayers are with you. I know that you know you will see him again someday. Your husband and father was truly a blessing to all of us...God Bless You!! Anthony....We'll See You At The HOUSE!!!

It has been a month now, to the day since Anthony's passing. I just wanted to post one more comment, while the sight is available to do so.Not much more can be said I don't suppose. But, for me, just a huge fan of his, I still feel a great sense of loss that I don't know how long it will take to get over.When I came home from work and logged on Mark Lowery's web site and learned what had happened, I just could not understand.But, as I posted earlier,one thing IS for sure. As the song goes, I can only imagine, what it will be like. But Anthony knows and no matter how sad we all might feel at his loss, just imagine how happy he is now. We love you and miss you Anthony. I had the privilege of seeingAnthony at theBooth Bros. homecoming in Lakeland. The cruise was leaving out the next day. When I was leaving the building ,i waved to him, he smiled and said "see you next time". We have been friends with his wife and daughter for many years. I said to LuAnn that he must be exasted after his concerts because he put so much in his playing. He will be greatly missed, but I'm sure he is playing for the heavenly choir. I had been involved a short time in promoting So Gospel Music in the Sacramento area of the West Coast when one day the music minister of our church told me he had a call asking if we would be interested in booking a solo concert pianist. (Anthony was coming out West on his first solo tour) "Who?" I asked. "Anthony Burger" he said. "ANTHONY?" I was speachless. "Yes, Is he any good?" he asked. "YES, YES, BOOK HIM", I said, "PLEASE, DO'NT LOOSE IT!!" The evening finally arrived and when Anthony played his first song I could tell the audience was totally captivated. What an uplifting evening of music and testimony as only Anthony could perform. After the concert, we were standing on the platform with Anthony expressing our gratitude for an incredible evening. I slipped a felt tipped pen to Anthony and he autographed the piano much to the delight of our own much accomplished music minister. In the following Sunday morning service I heard with pride the same music minister claim: "There are those who claim they have a piano autographed by Liberachi, but I gotta tell ya, I have one signed by ANTHONY BURGER!" It goes to show what an influence this humble, godly man had.

When I read Mark Lowry,s e-mail two days after Anthony passed away, I was shocked, I knew that Mark wouldn,t kid about something as serious as that, but I still couldn,t believe it, especially since he was so young, he,s my age! I was having a hard time reading Mark,s e-mail because my eyes were wet, I had the priviledge of seeing Anthony in person twice, on June5,1997,his birthday even though I didn,t know that it was his birthday, in Bangor ME. with the GVB, and the following year on Aug.4,1998 in Old Orchard ME. with Mark Lowry, I was sitting on the front row facing the piano that He was at, both Mark & Anthony were very enjoyable, and yes, Mark did the "STUMP ANTHONY", section polling the audience by asking them to make requests for Anthony to play in most music genres, and of course Anthony got a mock look of shock and dismay on his face when Mark said that he was going to do that, he was hard to stump! He was unstumpable! I really enjoyed the evening, God,s presence was felt very strongly in that outdoor pavilion that night, Anthony will be greatly missed. My heart and prayers goes out to his wife and three children his parents and brother, as well as Mark Lowry and the rest of the homecoming family members.

When I think of the times I was privlaged to see Anthony in concert,I think of the real pleasure/joy that he displayed in playing the piano.Yet even though he was one of God,s great gifts to music,when I had the chance to talk to him he was so humble.That is the way christ would have been had he been a piano player. Anthony Burger has always been my idol behind the piano. All of my life I have wanted to play like him. Its not about the fame and glory but the special language a musician can share between a piano and God. Anthony was very fluent in that special language. He will be greatly missed.

He could do more with a piano than anyone that I have ever seen and loved every minute of it. I have to say how much we are going to miss him, but I'm so glad that he went the way he did.....doing what he loved the most...playing for the lord!

My wife and I were able to see Anthony in concert in Minnesota a few years ago. He had such a God given talent that surely brought a smile to our Lord and Savior. Even though we will miss him, we know that he is enjoying his new home in heaven with family, friends and all the singers from the Gaither performances who have passed previously. We will miss him but know he is safe in God's hand.

I have been to many Homecoming concerts but had the privilege of seeing Anthony Burger & his beautiful wife in Lampasas Texas on February 12,06 for my fist solo concert. I have never seen a person put that much into a show for 1 1/2 hours of constant playing. I believe with all of my heart that God saw his good works over the years and wanted him as the "supreme" player in his choir...He will be miss...Rest Anthony, you've earned it and your wings....

God's orchestra certainly has a sweeter sound now that Anthony has joined the heavenly chorus. My husband and I had the privilege when the Homecoming singers came to our town, of sitting in the front row right beside Anthony as he tore that piano up. It was glorious! My husband went out to the lobby and bought me some CD's one of which was one of Anthony's. Later when Anthony came off the stage for a break, he graciously signed my CD. He was the best. I think Anthony was a great piano player. I love to watch him on the Gaither tapings because he put is all into the playing for the artist. He will always be rememberes as a great piano player. Prayers go out to his family and fellow artist. I was able to see part of the service and if that was his daughter singing the first song, she did an outstanding job. I admire her for her composure.

We were there at Anthony's homegoing. My wife and I were on our first cruise and we were on the 3rd row when Anthony was carried to the back of the stage. We were blessed by his wonderful piano playing and his testimony a few nights prior to his apparent heart attack. Bill, Gloria, and the entire Homecoming Group, and their families were deeply affected by this, but they did a fantastic job of demonstrating that even in grief and sadness we have hope and joy. Anthony Burger was a tremendous man who knew how to use his talent for God. And who gave God all the glory and credit for his abilities. I had the privilege of getting to attend Anthony's last concert that he performed with the Kingsmen. I can remember being mesmerized watching him play. He will be sadly missed.

God must have been trying to tell me that this would be the last time ON EARTH that I would sit and enjoy listening and praising God as Anthony played...Praise the Lord for allowing us all to have Anthony come into our lives via his talent and ministry for the Lord for all these years. Just think of the music being made in Heaven right now as Anthony rips it up for the Angel Choir. WOW !!! A talent like his only comes once in a while, and it will be a very long time before we see anyone close. I first saw him with the Kingsmen several years ago, and I was blown away then. I am a pianist, but always watched in awe as Anthony played, never missing a note. God gave him a wonderful talent and he used it to Praise and Serve The Lord. Yes, we will miss him, but God called him home, as He will all of us. He is now with the heavenly choir, including my brother, who worked in the gospel music arena and went home at an early age. I have cried at some point every day for this great loss. Our loss is certainly heaven's gain. I confess that I remain in great shock. I have gotten calls from so many friends that I didn't think even liked the Gaither Homecomings (which would be their loss) and these friends were asking if I'd heard about Anthony. He has impacted so many!! His playing was always with all of his heart & soul pouring out into the keys. Luann & boys, our church is praying for you. Russ Taff (my favourite gospel singer), Ernie Haase, Mark, Bill & Gloria...and all the others, you too are in my prayers. I can't imagine how you all must feel, being so close as a group...Anthony being an intimate part of the family. I don't know how to end here so I'll just say "Farewell" and God bless. To Anthony's family and to all the Gaither Homecoming Family, I simply cannot put into words how my breaks because I know you really loved Anthony. I loved him too. When I first heard what happened, like Mark Lowry, I can only imagine what was going through Anthony's mind. To be playing the piano for the group here and then all of sudden to be in the presence of the Lord AND then he hears, Vestal, Howard, Glen, George, Jake, Hovie and all the others who have gone on home durning the last few years. What a reunion!! I told my husband when I first heard the news that Vestal and the group there in Heaven were telling the Lord that they needed their piano player to play for them! A warm feeling just came over me knowing that they are having a wonderful time in heaven. We weep only for ourselves because we love Anthony and yes we are going to miss him but my oh my..I certainly don't weep FOR Anthony because he is home! He is having a grand ole time!! I am continuing to pray for those who were with Anthony during his final moments. I also want to express my deepest sympthy to Bill and Gloria. Finally to his wife Luann. I know that right now, she really needs to be lifted up as well as the rest of his family. I heard the news about our dear Southern Gospel friend, Anthony from 3 emails that I subscribe to and am in shock. We have been to many of the Gaither Homecoming concerts and to Mark Lowry's concert in Rockford, Illinois when Anthony toured with him the first year. I am praying for LuAnn and the children and for all the artists and Homecoming Family to be comforted in knowing that Anthony if "Finally, Home!" We will surely miss him here, but we look forward to the "Grand Reunion Day" in heaven when we shall see Jesus and all our loved ones once again. I just wanted someone to know that I have enjoyed Anthony Burger's gospel music for many years and I am so glad my sister (Delores Hollowell) gave me so many CD's and DVD's of his music with the Gaithers and The Trio. I know he will be greatly miss by so many. I do not have words to express my feelings. I have never seen anyone so dedicated to using his talent to amplify God's work. He was blessed beyond measure. There is one thing for sure Anthony Burger is in Glory today, Face to Face to the Great I Am. I am praying for the Burger family in this time of need. Thank God we had Anthony for as long as we did. I have always loved to hear Anthony play the piano. I told everyone I would love to take piano lessons from Anthony and if I could play even less than 1/4 of the way he did I would be happy. We last saw Anthony just on Friday before he went to be with the Lord on Wednesday. He was the special guest of the Booth Brothers at their homecoming in Lakeland, Florida. Oh, what a wonderful concert it was! He was on stage probably about 2 hours total, playing solos and accompanying the guys while they sang. He truly played his heart out. Michael Booth told us that he and Anthony would be playing a piano duet together, and kept teasing the audience with a promise of something we'd never seen before....and Michael and Anthony duet. Well, Michael brings out a portable keyboard, sets it up next to the Steinway, and tells Anthony, "You play this one!" . And, as we all know, whether Anthony played a Steinway, or a regular portable keyboard, he made that piano sing! Anthony cut loose on "Keep On The Firing Line", and at the appointed time, after each phrase was played by Anthony, Michael hit 1 note on the Steinway. We all cracked up. It was hilarious. I don't think there are any words to describe the loss I feel; it is almost like I have lost a brother. Being a pianist myself and knowing the level of difficulty in the music he played, and the inspiring arrangements he did of the music, I just don't think we'll be the same without him. What a gift we have in what he has left us with his recordings and DVD's. And how thankful I am to Bill Gaither for having so much of Anthony on all the homecoming videos. I just recently had gotten the 2 new DVD's of the Canadian homecoming, and I have watched them in a totally different way since he passed. I am focusing completely on the piano, and hearing that incredible talent from very southern, to a jazzy black gospel sound, to the beautiful versions he played of "Rhapsody in Blue/Shout To The Lord" and "Gettin' Ready To Leave This World". He could play any style, any version, and always amazed me that when Bill would just start to sing a song, and already be singing it, Anthony would just come in at the exact same key...he had such a gift for worshiping the Lord with his playing. I remember saying when we left the concert that night, that it just made me want to go home and practice from my Anthony piano books. I think Anthony would be so happy to know that as much as a blessing he was to listen to, he was also an inspiration to those of us who want to serve the Lord in our own churches with our music. The world is a better place because of Anthony and his testimony of healing, his incredible talent, his sweet, humble spirit, and the gift of his music he shared with us. I thank the Lord for the time he gave us the gift of Anthony. Heaven is sweeter with him there.

I have been reading all the postings here and everything I can about Anthony. I am devastated. I read Mark's email on Thursday morning and cried, "Oh, NO!" out loud in my office - I was the only one here. And then I cried. It was almost the way I felt when I got the call here at work about my mother's passing a month ago. Such shock!! My prayers go to the Gaither Homecoming Friends who were there with Anthony. May God ease your heartache and give you peace. What a time that must have been for all of you. And for his family - there can be no words to describe it. I think Anthony was the best pianist I have ever heard. I was so impressed with his skills, especially after the childhood burning he went through. He could make that piano get up and dance! I was always enthralled. I feel like I've lost a family member. I have been so blessed by his witness through the videos, CDs and DVDs. His legacy will live on. Anthony has been my music teacher for the past ten years, as I have attempted to learn some of the songs in his books. As he played you could hear the words to the music. I think he was the greatest piano player in the world, because his music conveyed the message of Jesus. He is an example of one of God's miracles in the 21st century. You've heard the "Touch of the Master's Hand" when you hear Anthony play for His Lord. I was privileged to hear his Chattanooga 25th Anniversary concerts. It was an experience I'll never forget. " I thank my God for every remembrance of him." (Philippians 1:3) I can play the piano much better because I have practiced with his books hundreds of hours. God used Anthony's song books to improve my talent for the Lord. God laid it on Bill Gaither's heart to produce the Tribute to Anthony Burger last year. I've listened to it three times since last Wednesday. I listen to Anthony's music almost every day of my life for the past several years. There is almost always an Anthony Burger CD in my player. He's gone on to GLORY but his music and love for the Lord will live on down here on earth. The thing that makes him so wonderful is that he understands the music. No one needed the words when he played. They were there in expression and feeling. I am a pianist. This part of his talent was so unique. His testimony was sincere. To play the piano we need his touch. The Touch of the Master himself. That is what made him so GREAT. I was so shocked to see that dear Anthony had passed away. I had just seen him at a Gaither Homecoming concert here in Sacramento a few months ago and I had immediately gotten his video as well as some CDs. I just could not believe it when I read that. I had been looking forward to seeing him again on the Alaska cruise but I guess the Lord needed him more than I did. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Burger family as well as the Gaither Homecoming folks. Can't wait to see him "at the house".

Last Thursday I attended the funeral of my mother-in-law in Erie, PA. When we were leaving the church after a dinner, I said to my kids, "see you at the house" and immediately remembered the video where that phrase was used and thought of my mother-in-law at "THE HOUSE" and when I returned home, I learned that Anthony Burger had joined her there on Wednesday. This is another reminder that we cannot wait to be about our Father's business. God is enough - He will keep the family and friends. What a blessing was his life!!!

When I read Mark Lowry's newsletter the other day, I cried. I know God had his reasons for taking Anthony at this time in his life, and it is only for the best reasons! I believe Anthony is planning a musical instrument in the Heavenly choir and for our God! My husband and I have talked about this since we heard the news late Wednesday night when I received an email from Legacy Five. It has been very hard to comprehend that he is gone. I was really looking forward to seeing him when the Gaithers came to Washington DC this April. But then, I thought, that that was a rather selfish thought. Although we will all miss his beautiful music, we will one day here it again, when we are all reunited in heaven. Words can't express how devistated I was to hear of Anthony's passing. I was so shocked, it took several hours for the news to sink in. We all think 44 is so young, but when it is your time, age does not matter. We tend to want to question God as to why he would take such a wonderful man that was bringing so much glory to him? I know we will one day have all the answers, but the pain today is still so real. Anthony will be greatly missed and I am not sure they will ever be able to fill those shoes!!! Anthony Burger certainly amazed all of us who ever saw him play using the hands that he said only God could move, after he was burned as a toddler. I have just listened to a Kingsmen cd recorded at the Tupperware Center in Kissimmee, Florida in 1992. This project featured a testimony and song from each member of the group and a song. "Anthony's Anthology" let's you hear Anthony tell how God led him in his mastery of the gospel piano, even though he could have had tremendous success in any musical genre. The cd is all vintage "Kingsmen" and the presentation by Anthony is priceless. If your radio station has this in their library, request it. It will bless you as it has me. What a "Testimony Meeting" there must be in heaven! Let's all continue in prayer for Anthony's family during these diff.icult days

I, too, was shocked to hear of Anthony's passing. When my daughter was very young, we attended a Kingsmen's concert. She was just learning how to play the piano. I bought her Anthony's tape of Hymns. Now 20 years later, she plays for the Lord. I introduced our adoptive kids to Anthony's piano playing 2 days before his passing. The Church will miss him, as will his family, but his Christian influence will continue being a witness for our Lord.

What a shock and mixed feeling of emotions I have had these past couple of days! I and my family live in Texas and try to make as many of the Homecoming concerts as we can and all loved to hear Anthony play. As a child I played the piano a little but I always wanted to play like Anthony did! When he played, especially one of his magnificient solos.....I felt like Heaven had come down and was right there in the coliseum where we were! I know that is why God chose to take him right in the middle of his service to God.....He just plucked him up from that piano bench. One moment he was playing for the Homecoming choir/guests and the next he was playing for a choir of Heavenly Angels! I can see it now! God wanted him there to edify him in person! I'm sure Anthony's journey in that moment was as spectacular as his life and the way he blessed us all! We will surely miss him and at the same time feel envious that he is already with the Master! WOW! What an awesome thing....now we can look forward to hearing him play again once we make that journey! Our prayers and hearfelt sympathy for his wife, children and other family and friends! How difficult for his friends from the Gaither Homecoming concerts! I as always can hardly wait to hear their next concert because I know there will be a tribute to Anthony! Play Anthony Play! I hope that no one will take offense to me sending in a second comment, but I felt I just had to.Last night as all Saturday nights are at my house is Bill and Gloria Gaither night. We watch the video's at least for two hours sometimes three. As I watched as the homecoming session was held in Ireland, Russ was singing the "old Sunday School song" as Bill put it, Oh Say but I'm glad. The camera just slightly panned over in the direction of Anthony and he was not only playing but singing along and had the most worshipful look on his face. I don't think I will ever forget seeing that. Most folks that accompany a singer just sit and play and that is it. I really believe Anthony was worshiping as he played. I believe he did that more than I or most people know. Again, I know I have sent in a comment before, but I just had to send this one and I hope no one will be upset that I did. Thank you.

I don't believe I have ever been as shocked as I was to learn of Anthony's passing. My mother called me at work and asked if I would promise not to become so upset that I couldn't work. I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old, but I don't believe in all that time that I have enjoyed anyone's piano work as much as I have Anthony's. I had continually purchased all of his music CD's and books to match as I went to Gaither concerts over the years. I enjoy his books because I am able to actually play most of his work (with a few edits of cords rather than eloquent runs). When checking his website today, I found that I hadn't kept up with everything. I immediately ordered the remaining items because I would hate not having a single one of his projects. I can only imagine what Anthony is doing now, playing for one of the greatest choirs, rejoicing with Vestal, Jake, George, Glen, and of course "Foxxy".

I read of Anthony's homegoing in the middle of a sleepless night and read Mark's letter. I cannot tell you how sad I felt. It was as if a close friend were gone. However, we know Anthony has never been happier. He would have chose to stay with his family a while longer I suppose, but God was ready for him to come Home. It is his family, his friends and fans which will feel a void for a long, long time. I met Anthony several time and he was always so kind. He didn't know me, but you would have thought he did. Anthony Burger was a "jaw dropping" pianist fom the very start of his goepsl music career. When he first took the stage with The Kingsmen, the gospel music scene changed forever. The influence he had on future pianists is forever evident. So much of Anthony is seen in Stewart Varnado, Channing Eleton, Andrew Ishee and many more young players. He always astounted but he never lost his focus on Jesus. Where ever he was and wgat ever he was doing, he would always applaud with the crowd but, he was applauding and prasing Jesus. He always gave thanks and praise to The Master. I am reminded of Enoch in the Bible. God told Enoch that he was closer to His home than Enoch was to his. Anthony went home to glory while playing and praising God. Maybe God told Anthony, "You're closer to MY home than you are to yours. C'mon and take a walk with ME." Yes, we will certainly miss Anthony and I pray for his family as well a his gospel music family. It will not be long though, and we will be singing with him again around God's piano.

Anthony was the most wonderful piano player I have ever heard. He was at a level that most people could never achieve, no matter how long they live. It was a talent that was God given and that's exactly how he used it. I can remember seeing him at the Jamil Temple every spring in Columbia, SC. He would lean that piano bench up on 2 legs and his hands would move so fast, you held your breath while watching him play. The other guys in the group were great, but you knew you had to get a seat where you could watch Anthony during the concert because he was just so amazing. As he moved on to play for the Gaither Homecoming concerts, again you'd want to make sure you had seats so you could watch Anthony lean that piano bench up on those 2 legs. Watching the concerts on TV, you hope they'd show a good shot of Anthony just so you could get a smile on your face as he leaned that piano bench forward. You'd think, "Man, he can still do that and not miss a beat." He was part of my past as a teenager going and hearing The Kingsmen. He was part of my present, looking forward to each new Homecoming concert. Now, he'll be a part of our future, when we see him again in heaven playing for our almighty Savior.

I am still in shock over Anthony's going home. We lost touch the past three years, but when I knew him, he was such a good friend. We'd tease each other a lot, and he was such a good sport about it. I'll never forget all the times we hung out, joked around, chatted, I worked his table, the laughs. Unforgettable. How sad for those left behind, but what glory in Heaven as Jake, Vestal, Howard ant the others welcomed Anthony home!! I had the privilege of getting to know him in Allentown when he played for our summer concert series--he was playing a medley of great old gospel songs, and then went into "Tennessee Waltz!" We had a choir onstage at the time, and I was sitting near him and began to sing the words--he gave me the mike and asked me to sing with him--the thrill of my lifetime!! I got to meet Anthony twice -- once during a concert with the Kingsmen Quartet in El Dorado, Arkansas, and once during a Gaither Homecoming concert in Texas ... and what struck me both times was his humble nature. To have that great a talent would, for some people, be a cause of conceit and boasting, but Anthony never let anyone forget who was REALLY responsible for his abilities. Such a sweet, gentle soul ... Being a piano player myself, I was always in awe of Anthony's talent, and the thing that gives me some measure of solace is that his music and his testimony will live on.

I am so heart-broken to hear of Anthony's sudden death; his music means so much to me. Although I could never begin to do justice to his wonderful piano arrangements, I have been attempting to play many of them, and am finding comfort in doing that. Anthony was scheduled to appear at my church in Pataskala, Ohio on March 25...Just trying to get some thoughts down...Wednesday night (Feb. 22), before the last night of our revival at church, I went around and hung up the concert posters for Anthony's upcoming appearance at my church. I was so excited he was coming...the last time I saw Anthony was December at the Gaither concert in Columbus...gave him a hug...had no idea it was the last time I would see him (at least in THIS lifetime)... Around midnight, I got a call from Brian Morgan, letting me know what had happened. I was up most of the night. Got a little bit of sleep, and around 6 am, called Jeff, the worship leader at my church to let him know that we would no longer be hosting Anthony at our church. Thought for a moment it was all a bad dream and actually got on the computer to make sure...was hoping it WAS a bad dream, but of course, it wasn't. The posters I was going to take to the local Christian bookstore are still on my kitchen table. I keep picking one up and looking at Anthony's picture...then I picture WHERE he's playing piano now and I'm happy for HIM...so sad for all of us, but so THRILLED that he's now playing for the SAVIOR, IN PERSON!!!! Anthony, we're gonna miss you...you were our gift for 44 years....The Good Lord DIDN'T have to heal your hands, to give you that wonderful gift He did....but He did....and...He let us have you AND that gift for a little while. I remember after getting all of my hair chopped off, I was a bit self-conscious and he was the first person to tell me how much he liked it. :-) He was so talented and he will be greatly missed. I was shocked when I heard the news of Anthony Burger's death. My parents in their 80's were in bad health. We tucked them into their recliners and would turn on the Gather videos. How they enjoyed those programs. I had the priviledge to attend several of the concerts in Dayton, Ohio. I met Anthony and had him sign a video I purchased. I asked permission to take his picture... he said yes and asked my husband to take a picture of ME and Anthony ! He was so nice and so very talented. It won't be the same without him. My deepest sympathy to his wife and two sons.

I still can't get over the shock of reading Marks email. As others have said, we sorrow here on earth but what a birthday party George Younce must have had up there with Anthony there to play for him. Anthony's tribute to Bill and Gloria cd is my 9yr old sons favorite cd and he goes to bed every night with it playing throughout the night. What a blessing to know he's listening to something so edifying to God that came through God's instrument of Anthony. Prayers are lifted up for Anthony's entire family that they will find peace in God's arms.

Anthony was my husband's mentor. He loved to listen to and watch Anthony play the piano. Last year he turned 50 and I got him Anthony's CD of Bill & Gloria's music. It has been such a blessing. What a shock to lose someone so talented at such a young age. Our prayers are with Anthony's family and all his Homecoming family. God Bless.

Anthony will definately be missed he was one of if not the best piano player I've ever heard. My dad and I were discussing it yesterday and we both said almost immediately God must of needed the best for the heavenly choir! I heard the news about Anthony on wednesday evening and just felt such a loss. I've had the pleasure of seeing him three times and got to meet him at the last concert we attended. I truly felt like I lost a family member. Thursday, I went to my local Christian bookstore to see if I could find some of his cds for my father. They only had the ones we already had, but i found the video of the Atlanta homecoming that I had looked for and wanted for several months. I really didn't pay too much attention to what was on the video since I love almost everything that the homecoming videos have. But a joy to see a video where Anthony not only played but spoke. He told the story of his then five year old son who was playing Jesus in a church play. He said how proud he was of the way his son grasped who Jesus really was. But then after the resurection scene his son ran back into the tomb. Anthony thought oh no he's going to embarass me in front of all these people. But then they heard his little voice yelling READY OR NOT HERE I COME. He said that little child gave him a better sermon than many of the sermons he had ever heard. He then went on to say Jesus is coming back and we shall behold him, then sat down to play the song. What a joy to hear him play it. And in that moment it finally hit me that while we mourn his passing from us that it's a time to rejoice for he has made it home. Anthony is with the one he loves best and I can't wait till the day that we all can join him and hear that heavenly music play once again. To his family and all the Gaither homecoming family I say God bless you all. You're in my prayers. But rejoice in knowing that Anthony is now not only playing about the King.. he's playing for the King. Play on Anthony.

I am heartsick by the News that we have lost Anthony. I believe it was by divine appointment that I had the privilege of working closely with Anthony for four years when he started his solo career. He was a joy to work with, always positive. His concerts were awsome to see and so inspiring to hear. I never tired of being in 3 or 4 of his solo concerts in one week--each one was different, with an element of surprise. He was a perfectionist in his music, a true gentleman with a caring heart, a close friend whom I will miss greatly. I have had the privilege of the friendship of his family and my prayers have been for God's strength and peace to be theirs during this most difficult time. We weren't ready to let him go, but would we call him back? We cannot begin to imagine what joy he is experiencing now. Still, we grieve for ourselves because we miss him. Funny that he died at the piano, it is kind of how I always thought that I would go. My prayers go out to his wife and boys. I was on my way to work when I heard "We Shall Behold Him" being played over Joy-FM, Winston-Salem; I was thoroughly enjoying myself, as I do every morning on the way to work, getting hyped up for my day, until I heard Rodney Baucom make the announcement that Anthony had passed away; I was floored as probably was a lot of people. For a few minutes, I just could not comprehend what he was saying and found myself hoping it wasn't true; but it is. Please, please let his family know that there are many many people praying for them and for you and his friends that will miss him too. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to know him and to work with him in a studio. It did not matter that my family was just a singing group from Alabama. He gave us his all. Even in latter years after he played on our project I saw Anthony and still knew who I was. He even hook me up with his brother and we bought our keyboard from him. The choir in heaven is getting bigger and better and I look forward to the day when we all shall join the ones gone on.
