This is the "First Light" image captured with my new Orion 190mm Maksutov-Newtonian Astrograph. My primary motivation in purchasing this scope was to get a flat field, and that goal was easily met - as you can see, the stars are round throughout the image, especially including the corners. I look forward to capturing some great images with this scope.
I'm a bit irritated by the huge blue halos around the bright stars, but those are a common side effect of the IR/UV filter on the QHY8 and there is unfortunately little to be done about it.
The image consists of 6 x 10min exposures captured with the QHY8 cooled CCD camera. Mount was a Celestron CGE guided with a QHY5 CCD mounted on a 50mm "KWIQ Guider" and controlled by PHD Guiding.
Captured at the Astronomical Society of Kansas City's Dark Sky Site located west of Butler, MO.
