M63_best.jpg

M63 is a flocculent spiral galaxy without well defined spiral arms. It is 29 million light years from earth and is about the same size as the Milky Way. In infrared there are two well defined arms. It is embedded in a vast halo of stars and stellar streams which extend far beyond the confines of this image.
