Third and last expedition with the "Focus on Birds" class headed by world expert bird watcher Thomas Southerland, Jr.
We visited a lot of the lakes and ponds situated between Point Pleasant and Belmar along the Jersey Shore. In stark contrast to the almost perfect weather that we had on the two previous outings we experienced mostly cold, windy nor'easter, overcast conditions and a moderate of rain on this trip - an eerie retribution perhaps. This seems not at all a deterrent to serious birders but two cardinal rules of bird photography were violated. The inability to get close enough to the birds (not too much of a factor for birding), and inadequate light. Nevertheless, it was still a very wortwhile trip with 34 species oficially recorded. Not all are pictured here for reasons stated above, but hopefully these images will present at least a genuine flavor of the outing.
