First expedition with the "Focus on Birds" class headed by world expert bird watcher Thomas Southerland, Jr.
It was quite a learning experience - I usually only concentrate on birds that present themselves for good photo ops. However, now I know that there are a lot of other birds around and it's a fun challenge to spot and then identify them. We went to a few places that I wouldn't have thought to go myself. Some birds were close enough and in good light for nice shots. The birds that were farther away, in bad light, behind leaves, etc, severely challenged my limited skills and equipment. I posted both the photographically good and bad shots here, some severely cropped. I am still trying to remember the identity of some of the birds in the gallery. Hopefully as I get more experience, the quality will increase.
UPDATE: With the help of our mentor, the identities have all been completed.
