Linda and I headed to the top of Buck Bald Mountain. We had never been to this mountain and did not know the bald existed until Aaron, Lindas' Son told her about going to the mountain and seeing a meteor shower at night. The elevation is 2389 feet and you have a beautiful 360 view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. For many years Buck Bald had a Fire Tower, this is why you C-15 on the ground in a few of the pictures. The Bald is very small, only a couple of acres on the top of the mountain. They have a couple of picnic tables and it can be accessed by handicap. I would not attempt to climb FSR 198 with a low clearance vehicle. The sky was blue with very few clouds, Temperature was around 80 and a constant 10-15 mph wind blowing. To get to the top you turn on Buck Ball Road just west of Farner Tennessee. After a few miles you turn left on Forest Service Road 198 and climb to the top. Buck Bill Road is the old orginal Tennessee Highway 68 so if you miss FSR 198 you will come back out on TN Highway 68 at the Hiwassee river.
Only a few of the pictures have comments added to them since most are self describing.
