Located just down the road from Enniskerry in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains is Powerscourt Estate and the waterfall. The gardens consist of formal gardens and include Italian and Japanese Gardens and a Pet Cemetery. There are sweeping terraces, statuary and ornamental lakes together with secret hollows, and rambling walks and over 200 variations of trees and shrubs. The 18th Century Palladian House was destroyed in an accidental fire in 1974 and for some years stood as an empty shell. It has since been rebuilt and now incorporates a gift shop, gallery, and café.
Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland's Highest Waterfall tumbling 398 feet into the Dargle Valley.
