M.Sc. FIELD WORK

These photos were taken while I did work for my M.Sc. at my field site in the Boreal forest of west-central Alberta.
The project was a simple mark/recapture of Northern Flying Squirrels, Red Squirrels and American Marten. The object was to examine their movements in relation to man-made linear distubances (in this case varying sizes of pipeline right-of-ways) on the landscape. Alberta has 500,000+ km. of these disturbances varying from a few meters to 80+ meters wide. Their cumulative impacts on wildlife are largely unknown.
The field work was completed due expressly to the hard work, knowledge and good humour of my field assistants Kim Lisgo, Darren MacGregor and Valeria Vergara. In addition, our two dogs Meg and Simba served as invaluable companions in the field.
If you have any questions about this project feel free to contact me through pbase.
Please excuse the poor quality of the photos. They were taken a decade ago and adapted with a mediocre slide scanner.
