About Gypsy Swing: In the 1930’s, manouche gypsy Django Reinhardt, and violin player
Stephane Grappelli formed Le Quintette du Hot Club de France in Paris. Their style
was a mix of American jazz standards, European folk, and traditional gypsy music.
Guitar and violin are the primary solo instruments in “Hot Club” music.
Le Quintette du Hot Club de France is the defining group in the genre and
is still looked to by countless groups for inspiration today.
