If I may, couple of suggestions for such shots:
1. Keep the subject of the center
2. Make sure horizon line is paralel to the line of the image
3. Shoot RAW (see 4)
4. Develop once for the sky, second time for the subject. Combine two exposures in PS exposing just the right ammount of light.
