In the past, the wooden chalets covered with pebbles which distinctively characterized the Pokljuka mountain pastures served as dwellings for shepherds. They produced various dairy products there: sour milk, curds, cheese, etc. This tradition of dairy production continues to this day and grazing cattle can still be seen on some meadows in summer.
