The majestic Castle of the Dukes of Brittany is a fortified medieval castle built when Nantes was part of Brittany. Although its walls are rather austere, inside the courtyard you'll discover a brilliant white palace made of tufa stone.
Built in the late Middle Ages by Duke Francis II and his daughter, Anne of Brittany, the palace is the last of the Loire châteaux before reaching the Atlantic ocean and was designed to protect the kingdom of Brittany from the growing Kingdom of France.
