Nice family photo. I read a quote by someone from long ago, Mark Twain I think it was, that went along the line of how he'd be damned if he was going to smile for a photo and look like some silly fool. From a few other things I have read I believe that was the prevailing attitude for a long time. It would certainly explain a lot of stern looks.
fantastic. I love old photos. I have a lot as well, that are sort of hands off, not very warm. I always assumed it was due to the sensiblities of the time...Jimmy looks like his is planted into that garden and ain't gonna move!
