Our beautiful castle is quite old., William the Conqueror, built it after 1066, and it is a stupendous building which is visible from most of Dover.
There has always been an historical presence here, with Saxon tunnels underneath, and, of course, the Romans were also here and built the Pharos (lighthouse) to guide the Roman fleet here in about 55 BC !
