Dungeness, Kent

Dungeness is large shingle beach, off the south-east Kent coast, sheltering the Romney Marsh. It has many a letters after its name; NNR-National Nature Reserve, SSS-Site of Special Scientific Interest and SAC-Special Area of Conservation
It is home to a nuclear power plant which seems to fit the quirky nature of the area.
There is also a fine R.S.P.B. visitors' centre, as the area is rich in bird-life as well as home to a third of the flora of the United Kingdom.
It is also home to a population of beach-dwellers and artists who live in a collection of cottages, old fishermen's shacks, railway carriages and other strange and wonderful buildings.
