General-Store.jpg

The sign on the chair reads "Save the Salmon". The latest battle is with Real Estate developers who are building 260+ condominiums on the shore, beside Haig Park right at the mouth of the Adams River on Shuswap Lake.

The developer told the department of Environment (probably an answering machine somewhere in a high rise in Vancouver), newspapers, residents, and all who would listen--they'd mitigated the danger to salmon and were going to build a 160 boat marina at the mouth of the Adams River (where spawning salmon must pass). The marina would police itself with full and time-share residents using the dock.

People did not believe the crap and came out to protest for this would be a shodddy way to finish off the already depleted Salmon runs.
