Trout follow closely and constantly attack the undersides of the salmon's belly in hopes of retrieving some eggs. This photo is taken on the banks of the Liittle shuswap. The Sockeye must still swim miles to the larger Shuswap Lakes and then up the Adams River to lay their eggs. The waters are just teaming this early October with beaten ragged starving liver coloured Salmon. When they get to their destination the female layers turn bright salmon and the males grow long snouts to move gravel over the egg beds.
