Sharon Sellars not only danced well, but performed a very special Commissioner of Oaths duty. She presided over the adoption of young "Dakota" by the proud parents and by the tribe. This exceptional event was shared in the form of family gifting to many recipients who came forward to welcome Dakota.

This event was tribal and familial in nature and so I did not take images of the family or ceremony out of respect. If I had asked and received permission prior to the ceremony I would have tried to capture some of this shared adoption. I did not expect anything like this to take place at a PowWow.

ps...This dress was magnificent and I hope some day a "Miss Canada" gets the hint.
