Conowingo Dam

The Dam was built in 1926-28. From the right side of the picture are the 53 flood gates. On the left side is the power house and then the turbines. There is a swim out fish lift in the middle. The dam is used as a bridge for US Route 1 to cross the Susquehanna.
When the turbines are running birds gather to feed on the fish that are stirred up by the turbines.
