After weaving praises of silence, it’s time to praise shades too.
Both, silence and shades are the most secure defences against summer.
They don’t fight it to defeat its power; they try to tame it in order to make it bearable.
Summer has the bad habit to overdo; light is too bright, sun is too hot, sounds are reflected and amplified.
For this reason (and for many others) I find convenient to balance summer hyperactivity with an increasing laziness from my side.
I live in slow motion, I do only the strictly necessary things, and I dilate time.
It’s my summer hibernation at its best.
Sparkling mineral water, fresh lime juice, mint syrup and a lot of books to dip into. Calmly...
