We had remained the only strangers in the castle.
So we didn’t sleep there after all.
Very properly, we went out of the gate under the keeper’s strict and slightly suspicious look.
He wanted to be sure that the Dukes of Brittany spirits would not have had to cope with not requested guests.
“Definitely it would have been a great Bed & Breakfast…”
“Yes, and what else? Would have you liked that the gentle ghost of Duchess Anne would have brought you your coffee and croissants in the morning on a silver tray???”
“At her time they didn’t know coffee here and I’m also nearly sure they had not invented croissants yet”
“Ah, this is a good reason to leave then”
During all the other days of our stay in Nantes we checked the Castle gate and the timetable posted on it.
It was clearly showed that, in all cases, the castle would have always been closed at 8pm.
So maybe we had been just lucky or…
