We were warned « Seagulls are cheeky and bold here. They are not scared, they behave like naughty sparrows, like insisting pigeons, if you keep something edible in your fingers and you are not quickly to gulp it down, they can come down like in a sudden air attack and they can steal the food and even peck your finger tips”
Considering that the beak of a seagull is more impressive and much stronger than a sparrow one, we decided to be careful, even though we were sceptical.
Oh my, it’s absolutely true, they wait for you along the port and if you dare to take a little too long time to eat a piece of the delicious fresh sea food on sale in one of the stalls , they nosedive merciless on you and take all away from your hands.
Alfred Hitchcock maybe was inspired by Oostende seagulls….
