Baroque devotion

Torino (Italy)

There are so many Baroque churches in Torino. They are practically all Catholic.
I forgot their names, maybe I have never know them.
I get inside churches at random, often just to perceive the difference of light from outdoors.
I think this one is “La Consolata”.
The name should come from “Consolatrix afflictorum” an appellative of the Virgin Mary.
I don’t like Baroque that much, I find it too rich, too exaggerate, too flashy in a certain way.
But it’s has a deep visual appeal.
Usually in churches, when it’s not time of a mass, there are only elderly women.
But here I found two men, one was immersed in a lonely prayer, the other one seemed to be just passing by.

Palatial. The feeling of space is stunning and the scale emphasised by the men. I like the contrast of faith and apparent disinterest. K
