Located near both the University of Venice and Ca’ Foscari University, Campo Santa Margherita has earned a reputation as the primary nightlife area in Venice, and particularly caters to the area’s high-spirited student population.

By day, however, the square also teems with local residents running errands and buying fresh fruit, bread, herbs, and fish from the small vendors, as well as throngs of visitors who take a break on the benches under the canopy of trees to watch the bustling parade of daily life.
