That evening there was a big free street concert in Place de la Bastille,
something related with the anniversary of Mitterrand’s election.
Cars turned around the square like mad coleopterans trying to find a passage over the street barriers.
Music of mysterious hip-hop groups and improbable French rappers broke the velvet of the night very loudly.
We chose the opposite direction after barely passing by.
In Hotel de Ville Square there was nobody.
Some desert installations for children’s basketball, incongruously set in front of the venerable building, were locked.
The leftover of sunset made the façade look like ancient gold.
