That textured red-orange background can be difficult to compete with but it works really well here, seeiming to have an effect on the inside of the center petals and with the colors that are dominant in the image. Beautiful together. I do like seeing the veins so well while 'sharpness' is not an end but s sort of 3-dimensional roundness. Very meaty.

Marisa, a magnificent composition with the placement and lighting of the rose. The out of focus of the far petals is superb, but I would have prefered to see the petal in the central foreground more in focus. A good selection of the background, with a hint of colour.
