In the middle of nowhere a familiar name...

Loix - Ile de Ré (France)

This is the little story.
From Saint Martin we took again another bus to visit a different village of the Island (there are 10 villages), we had not any idea what village to choose, and we suddenly thought Loix could be a good idea.
Maybe we decided only because from the map it seemed to be located in the middle of saltpans, where the refined “ fleur de sel” is produced for the joy of gourmets.
When the bus arrived the driver asked us where we were going and I said:
“Loix”
The driver looked at me as if I were a little green alien asking for Mars and asked me to repeat
“ Loix”
He put on a resigned face as if he meant to say. “It’s your fault, not mine”
We were the only passengers, besides a couple of teenagers who got off at a beach.
Then the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere, there was only a water tower like the one you might see in old cowboys’ movies.
We got off....
After a while a man on a bicycle passed by and I asked him where the village was, he indicated a vague direction with his hand and we started walking.
We found the first cases, small and all white, but no human presence.
On a corner I read the name of the street and necessarily I took this snapshot.
Ah well it’s necessary to say that in Switzerland I live very close to Genève.
