Travelling is a very personal matter. I don’t mean only the choice of a specific destination or the approach to it, but–all at once– what one expects to find and to enjoy.
As for me I don’t need to go very far from home to perceive the subtle pleasure of a voyage of discovery. I can feel like an explorer in the very street where I live, day after day. I can be surprised by new details and I can see familiar corners under different perspectives.
The traveller sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see. Tourists don't know where they've been, travellers don't know where they're going.
I’m a rather short distance traveller for my own choice.
I have spent a few, very pleasant day in Colmar, a small town I know fairly well and which less than four hours by car from my home.
