Bassins is another very small village of Canton Vaud.
We might start our visit in a winter morning, without expecting anything special except the naive and spontaneous charm of a farmers’ village.
Bassins has a little more than 1100 inhabitants, it depends if you count them when they are all at home or not...
It’s set on the mountain road of Jura, about 750 metres high. Its position allows it to be above the fog layer, which is typical of lake Leman area in winter, so the Bachenards (as the inhabitants of Bassins are called) enjoy often a bright blue sky, while they lower neighbours are inside a grey and fluffy soup of fog.
Welcome to Bassins!
