Just a few snaps from a lovely celebration with friends.
I had recently bought a new camera, and was using this opportunity to try it out, as well as try an idea. Namely, putting a vintage rangefinder lens on a new digital camera, Sony's NEX 7. While it's difficult to control the focus on the older lens (no auto focus, or auto anything), I'm happy with the look.
The first half of the gallery is with the lens supplied with the camera, a kit lens. It's nice to have zoom and auto focus, and the images are nice.
The 2nd half of these pictures were taken using my Canon 50mm f1.2 ltm lens, shot wide open giving a very limited depth of focus. Note the slightly softer focus and, most importantly, the deliciously gauzy out of focus areas, otherwise known as bokeh.
I hope the difference is noticeable!?!?
