Xerophyllum tenax

Common Names: Common Bear Grass,Squaw Grass, Soap Grass, Quip-quip, Indian Basket Grass.

No varieties

Note large grass like plant with strong central stem with white, cream colored flowers on upper portion, generally slightly rounded bulb like at the top. Many six petals white flowers with stamens extending well beyond petals.

Note how much more lush the 2009 Mt. Bandera grasses are over the 2014 Silver Peak grasses. Not sure why (time of year, location, water, climate, etc., variations?).
