Common Names: Hookedspur Violet, Early Blue Violet, Western Dog Violet

USDA lists 3 varieties of which only var. adunca is found in WA state. H&C lists 4 varieties.

var. cascadensis: rare or not detected. Okanogan, WA & Descutes, OR Counties
var. adunca: Leaves mostly pubescent, considerably longer than broad.
var. bellidifolia: petals generally whitish at base. Found Rocky Mtn.
var. uncinulata: petals not whitish at base. Found in s OR.

Note early time of bloom, pale to deep violet flowers with a white patch, purple veins on lower 3 petals, round to oval leaves.2 side petals have white beard.
