Triantha occidentalis

Common Name: Western False Asphodel, Sticky Tofieldia

(SYN. Tofieldia occidentalis of the FAMILY LILIACEAE)

A small Genus of 4 species. One is endemic to Japan and the other three of NA. One study showed T. glutinosa may be two species and another study showed there was indiscernible differences between the four species. Some authors put the plant in the Genus Tofeildia which is considered a related sister clade. USDA lists three subspecies of which ssp. brevistyla is the only one found in WA state.

USDA lists three subspecies:
ssp. brevistyla: OR, WA, ID, BC, AB, AK
ssp. montana: ID, MT, WY, BC, AB
ssp. occidentalis: OR, CA


Note single semi-round inflorescence with 6 white petals with green style in the middle. Mostly basal leaves are long and narrow.
