The yellow-brown coloring is sulfur gases being emitted through
a fumarole on the right side of Grant Peak and to some extent
from Sherman Crater. It is still an active volcano and was significantly
warmer for a few years after Mt. St. Helens blew up. No one has any
idea when it might go.
The seracs in the middle are good size blocks of ice.
The crevasses are opening up making it more difficult for the climbers.
Still not a bad route up to the top. At full size you can see the
various routes the climbers have taken.
