Castilleja rupicola

Common name: Cliff Paintbrush

Note small size (<10 inches) short, showy bracts, normally the flowers stick well above the bracts. Upper leaves are sharply divided into 3-7 lobes. Leaves and stem are generally purplish tinged. Grows in open rocky areas at high elevations.
