Common Names: American Bistort, Western Bistort, Smokeweed, Mountain Meadow Knotweed

(SYN: Polygonum bistortoides)

Note 1-2 ft. single flower stem with dense white, (pink), bottle brush like inflorescence. Stamens extend beyond petals. Mostly basal, leathery, lance shaped, long leaves. Often grows in large numbers in subalpine meadows to open areas.
