Aconitum columbianum

Common Name: Columbian Monkshood

USDA lists two subspecies only one iS found in WA state.
ssp. columbianum: Columbian Monkshood; Found w NA
ssp. viviparum: Columbian monkshood; Found in OR and CA

Note the unique shape of the flower, five petals which unfold with the upper petal in the shape of a monk's hood or duck bill. Generally dark purple, or creme white. Leaves are maple like, sharp toothed. Grows near wet areas, streams at mid-elevations.
