Jesus is Laid in the Tomb

Joseph of Arimethea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus, and wrapped it in perfumed oils. Then he buried Jesus in a tomb close at hand.

My Jesus, You were laid to rest in a tomb awaiting Your Glorious Reserection. You were born with nothing of this world's goods and You died detached from everything. You taught us how important it is to follow the Father's Will. Let my desire to know and love You be like a torch to light up my darkness. Let my soul sing softly a hymn of repentant love and rejoice with all the angels in a song of praise and thanksgiving for so great a love- so great a God- so great a day!

Grant, Lord,
that we who are baptised into the life and death
of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ
may continually put to death our evil desires
and be buried with him;
and that through the grave and gate of death
we may come to our joyful resurrection;
through his merits, who died and was buried
and rose again for us,
your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
