The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani

A Trappest Monastery in Nelson County, Kentucky,
near Bardstown. It is situated on 2000 acres of
farmland, and is the "mother house" of all
Trappest monasteries in the U.S. It is probably
best known as the home of Thomas Merton. Gethsemani
is the oldest monastery in the U.S. still in use.
