Charles Darwin

Shrewsbury, England

This is a photo of my all time hero standing in the grounds of Shrewsbury School. Born in 1809 he is probably Shrewsbury's most famous resident. This was shot at dusk and my friend Steve Youens light-painted him with a halogen torch while I took the shot. The sepia treatment seemed to fit his clothing so well.

Great perspective and good job lighting this fine statue of Darwin. It's wonderful to see him how he must have been so much of the time, exploring the outdoors.

We have one like this in Tennessee. Dayton, TN is where the Scopes trials about evolution. His statue is there in front of the courthouse.
