Traditional

This traditional family-run hardware store sells everything from birdseed to teapots. However, they ran out of camping gas over the weekend as householders without power sought alternative methods of cooking.
Still no internet at home so while I can upload photos on my personal laptop at work, I don't have time to comment on other people's images.

I recently saw an item about a hardware store in Redfern in Sydney (on the fringe of the CBD). It was similar in style to this one but a bit smaller and grottier. (Hey, it's Redfern.) It opened in 1970 and the 75 year old owner has had enough; he's trying to sell it but if not, the place will close. The point is... it's only in inner city places where the "Big Box" hardware stores can't find land that a little hardware store like this can survive down here, and even then it's tough. Hopefully Holland's Hardware has a similar niche. After all, you never know when you may need a sign made to order. (If for no other reason than to throw on the campfire until the power comes back on.)

Sadly we don't have these family run businesses any longer...like climbing into a treasure chest.
Hope your internet is repaired soon.

Great shot and narrative, and I hope things get back to normal for you soon.
