Iced rosebud

We had a heavy frost this morning which hasn't melted.
There's weather warnings for snow and ice overnight but
as we're beside the coast, we'll probably just get rain and sleet

a resilient rose for sure...there are a few buds over here too, but no frost..

According to one website that I visited, "Most varieties of roses begin to bloom in late spring or early summer, once the weather starts to warm up." Clearly somebody in this shot didn't get the memo, or just became very impatient. I like the contrasts in this shot; the hard but brittle ice crystals vs the softness of the bud, and the red vs the green.
