The Pyramide du Louvre, designed by Chinese architect M.Pei, was made possible by the genius of the Dundalk-born structural engineer Peter Rice.
He also worked on the Pompidou Centre and the tent-like canopy at the
Grande Arche.
In 1992, he was the second engineer to be awarded the Gold Medal for Architecture by the Royal Association of British Architects.
